SARM

Solution Architecture Review Method is a formal method for evaluating solution designs.  It provides a means of exploring alternative ways of implementing (or acquiring) a solution in a structured manner, taking into account the different stakeholder interests in the solution, and ensuring that the relative merits and disadvantages of competing solutions are properly considered.  Its application prior to the implementation of a new or changed solution will help ensure that the new design best meets the complex needs of all interested parties.

The method also includes an optional Cost Benefit analysis, which presents a financial comparison of competing solution designs.  Potential benefits are adjusted to reflect the likely outcome for each solution option, based on the evaluation of the review team, leading to a “value for money” assessment of the competing solutions.
