This worksheet supports the stakeholder analysis activity in Phase 1 of the SARM Process. Click on that link if you want to understand more about how to run the workshop to conduct the analysis. It is recommended that you only turn to this worksheet once you have identified up to 15 stakeholder groups that you wish to use in your SARM analysis.
Enter their names in the Stakeholder column of the spreadsheet (this is column B). For each stakeholder, determine whether they have Power, Legitimacy and Urgency, as defined in the Stakeholder Model. Enter a Yes or No in columns C, D and E by selecting your answer in the dropdown in each cell. The Class and Salience columns will be automatically populated with appropriate values according to the answers given, in accordance with the model.
The lower half of the worksheet provides a graphical representation of your stakeholder analysis, which you may find useful. It does not, unfortunately, automatically place the yellow disc representing each stakeholder into the portion of the diagram that represents its corresponding stakeholder Class. But it is a simple task to drag each disc to the right place, and the result is a useful representation of your stakeholder analysis that may prompt some interesting and valuable discussions with the project sponsor and other project leaders.
The FAQ document contains further information about Stakeholders here.
Do not attempt to insert new rows into the worksheet, as it will adversely affect the functioning of the rest of the spreadsheet. It is not possible to conduct a SARM analysis with this tool involving more than 15 stakeholders. If this causes a difficulty, you should look at grouping ‘like minded’ stakeholders together to reduce the number of distinct groups to 15 or less.
