Where did it come from?

The Solution Architecture Review Method has evolved from methods applied to software and systems design, most notably the Architecture Trade-Off Analysis Method developed by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.  This particular evolution has been developed and applied by Dr Simon Field as part of his research at the University of South Wales, and adopted by many organisations including Emirates Group where Simon was Chief Architect.  You can download the published thesis here.  Simon’s studies were sponsored by Public Service Management Wales and the Office for National Statistics where he was Chief Technology Officer.
